Hey folks,

I'm Andrew, a long-time lurker and a first-time poster. I fly generally for work (I work for the internet), though there's a bit of self funding as well. I'm looking forward to having a chat with folks who don't blink when I talk about the way QF's reservations system blocks off certain rows for CL/WP members, and to the possibilities of catching up with folks in lounges around the world.

Have somehow managed to hit SG and I'm hoping to retain for a second year.

Since QF has taken away the SFO flights, and it's cheaper to fly direct on UA, work is booking me onto UA for my trip to SFO next month, which means on current travel plans I'll be 85SC short on an SG retain. I'm saving points for an F OW award so I'd rather not do an ASA, and I'd ideally go somewhere I can spend some time at, to assuage my guilt of flying just for the SCs :-D.

A friend suggested the LAN AKL run, but I'm looking to see if I can reduce the $ to retain since I'm not going to be hitting WP so the extra SCs won't do me a lot of good.

So I'm curious — does anybody have any suggestions for <$800 85+SC runs around September where I can spend a bit of time at the destination?

Have a look at doing a run while in the states, you want have to spend anywhere near $800 but I will leave it to the many experts on such matters here!
