Quick one, does anyone still use travellers cheques?

I haven't since the 90's but just wondering if they were still popular as I was thinking about the fees on everything then thought back to those good 'ol days when using a travellers cheque did cost anything. (though of course it cost to buy)

Just for interest sake more than anything.

I use them in Japan, AMEX cheques in Yen.

+1 and some $US. Purchased some about 6 months prior to departure last year. Manage to lock in a great exchange rate by doing so.

The poor people at the hotel in Japan weren't happy when I presented a pile of TC's to pay for the room (TC's at Y91:$1 current rate was Y60:$1).

The foreign currency credit cards that ANZ sold were quite handy in HK. However they're only available in limited currencies.
