Is it correct that there is a "help yourself" on the A380? Is this just for Business or Economy also? Is there on one the top deck for Economy? Thanks all...

Last time I flew was in Y+ however the snack bar was at the back of Y downstairs. They had Byron Bay cookies - yum!
There is also a snack/bar area for J as well. (Well, last time I flew J there was).

There is no snack bar on the top deck of economy. It was easy enough to get down to the one at the back of the lower deck.

Not to hijack, but where is the onboard bar on the 330?

It depends on which config plane you get. On the old config there are self service bars for Y, Y+ and J.

On the new A380 config there are 2 (or is it 3) less self service bars. The on at the front of economy has been removed and the one at the back of the top deck has been removed. There is no upper deck self service bar for Y, I assume that they could go down stairs. Y+ I assume they can now access the business class self serve bar.

Yeah, I believe the new A380 config has a shared refreshment bar between PE/J - Qantas has been recently updating their website to indicate that PE on A380 now has access to a self serve bar, yet the older one just indicated snacks in PE.

Can't comment about the rest, the two A380 configs does stuff up some planning.

The A330-300 definitely has a self service bar on the left hand side of the business galley. I believe there is a self service bar for economy at the back galley on the left, although I have never been down there to see it. The international A330-200 also has has a self service bar from what I recall it is a bit smaller than the one in the A330-300

Must have been hiding the last time I was there:oops:

Have to look harder the next time

No snacks on Y on the 380 HKG-SYD service :( just some soft drinks in the fridge

On an OT point - I love their cookies to bits!! Back in the day when they were so hard to get, I used to have to order small tins of their Triple Chocolate Fudge cookies from Wishlist (surprisingly owned by QF now). Those things send me into cookie heaven.

Reminds me of a 14 day Ocean Cruise. Didnt find out about the availability of their cookies from Pool Bar until 2nd last day of cruise.

I am sure I remember a snack/drinks bar on the upper deck at the back of economy.

No Byron Bay Cookies in Self Serve on flight from SYD-SCL and SCL-SYD during September this year. No self-serve soft drinks either, and you had to ask the FA's in the Galley. Also did a DFW-BNE leg in June this year and the self serve did not offer Byron Cookies either. They were yum from my previous SYD-LHR flights

My QF93 on Saturday had firstly "Tuscan style Biscotti" and "Ginger Cookies". Later on "Belgian Chocolate Brownies".

My QF94 Monday had the "Byron Bay Cookies" and "Cheese Biscotti Fingers".

Had Byron Bay Cookies on QF93 on Wed 07/11, no Byron Bay Cookies on QF94 Fri 09/11 though. Seems to be fairly hit and miss.

I've seen the small self service area at the back of Y down the spiral stairs during my 'laps' of the plane.

I didn't really pause to see what was on offer, but ISTR it was right near the toilet area which I did not like the idea of. There were quite a few pax milling about the area.

My one complaint with the self serve snack bar is that there is not enough variety (at least on QF94 a couple of weeks ago). It would be nice if there was a few different selections as I don't remember what the cookie was, but there was a lot of them and not much else.

Indeed it is. However the cookies are all individually packaged and the fruit should be in a cabinet, so the risk is minimal.

Last time I tried to self serve in the F section of the A380 I didn't get to see what was there. The FA was quite offended and asked what he could bring me!

You were lucky to get away with it. Every time I have tried to self serve in the F section I have been escorted back to my seat in Y and giving a stern talking to. :p
