Hi guys, I recently booked a J return ticket to Milan via Dubai through qantas.com and I need to change the outbound flight to depart a day later on the BNE/DXB direct service (currently booked via Singapore). The new fare is slightly higher by $190 (no probs), however Qantas are asking me to pay a $400 change fee. I'm not seeing that in the fare rules under 'changes', however there is mention of a $400 fee under the Cancellations > Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards.

Can someone please clarify this for me?

If you're changing the routing and not just the dates then it's a rebooking/rerouting:

For tickets issued on/before 29 July 2014, a rebooking/rerouting fee of A$200 per person applies or after No Show A$300 per person applies. For tickets issued on/after 30 July 2014, a rebooking/rerouting fee of A$400 per person applies or after No Show A$800 per person applies.

Its $400 as per the fare class table

I would argue that up this is not clear in the advertising of the fare which of course becomes misleading and deceptive conduct of interest to the ACCC. It should be clear on any page what the fees are, not hidden by the requirement to have a second click through.

Thanks Markis10. The fare class table is a lot clearer. When I booked my ticket I clicked on the Business Sale link and printed the conditions. I was quite happy with the rules as I understood I was able to make changes without a fee (+ pay any fare difference) and noted that if I had to cancel the ticket I would lose $600. It's not clear at all. I didn't take note of what the conditions read under the Awards section because I was buying the ticket as appose to using points. It is misleading where they mention rerouting. Should I message RedRoo or try Qantas Res a second time?

Give Qantas res a second go, explaining exactly what you have mentioned in your post, you should not have to dig hard to find fees.
