Hello Everyone and thank you in advance for all your help!!!!

I have recently booked the following flights:
30 Nov 2013
Thai Airways (TG) 484 Economy (V)
Depart:perth Arpt (PER)
Arrive:Suvarnabhumi Intl Arpt (BKK)
Fare Basis:OLBAUIL
1 Dec 2013
El Al Israel Airlines (LY) 82 Economy (O)
Depart:Suvarnabhumi Intl Arpt (BKK)
Arrive:Ben Gurion Intl Arpt (TLV)
Fare Basis:OLBAUIL
15 Jan 2014
El Al Israel Airlines (LY) 75 Economy (O)
Depart:Ben Gurion Intl Arpt (TLV)
Arrive:Hong Kong Intl (HKG)
16 Jan 2014
Fare Basis:OLAUIL
16 Jan 2014
Cathay Pacific Airways (CX) 171 Economy Class (S)
Depart:Hong Kong Intl (HKG)
Arrive:perth Arpt (PER)
Fare Basis:OLAUIL

I am a QFF member and this is my predominant rewards program. However my current understanding is:

  • El AL O fares dont earn QFF points
  • all Cathay Flights earn QFF points because they are one world
  • Thai are star alliance so they earn 0 QFF points
  • ALL El Al flights earn Matmid (el al rewards program) points

MY QUESTIONS ARE:

  1. The flight is an El Al fare, SO if i use my QFF number will i still earn points on the cathay flight?
  2. Are the points to be earned on on el al flights using matmid worth more than QFF points on the one cathay flight?
  3. If i want to maximise my chances of being able to purchase/use points/talk my way into an upgrade on the El Al flights is it more worthwhile to book ticket using Matmid Frequent Flyer number...or will the points earned be effectively useless?
  4. Can i use QFF points to upgrade on the cathay flight?

I am happy to purchase access to a service that will best enable me to see seat availability and upgrade opportunities if someone can recommend one

Thank you everyone for your help i have been reading and researching alot but cannot find the answers

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Hi,

You will not earn points on the Cathay flight as its not in a class that eligible, namely O:

Frequent Flyer - Earning Points - Fly - Airline Partners

Only Qantas offers points on every flight and only to its program members (excluding the normal awards, industry fares etc etc).

And you cannot upgrade using points on flights not operated by Qantas.

ok!

So may as well use my new Matmid Membership!!

Thanks everyone for helping me clarify!
