Hi all,

I am only 5 status credits away from earning silver membership. I need another 5 points by the end of the month. Is there any way possible without flying?

Cheers,
Jason.

Welcome to AFF jasonj427.

The only way would be by applying for the Qantas credit card with bonus SCs attached. Not sure how quickly the SCs would post and may not apply in current membership year.

Don't know where you are located but a short flight somewhere may be necessary if you really want that status.

Join Flybuys, spend $500 and receive 5 Virgin SCs...

If ur with Virgin that is...

Otherwise, pick a short trip on a basic fare and go return.

Though, Silver is only worthwhile if you have regular forward flights expected....cause Points is the only real benefit, along with SCs towards Gold.

But like I say, suck it up and book a bne syd or something return, same day (no accom costs)

Oh, alternatively...Play the Lottery.

Call Qantas or Virgin, who ever...and plead your case for 5 Points and your future Loyalty to their business alone.

Can't hurt to try !

They happily comped me a few SCs for Gold status, so I'd give them a call and ask nicely.. though only Silver it's also only 5 SC.

That may work, but if you had some forward bookings to back your position up. Otherwise forget it and either fly or miss out :)

Qantas (quite sensibly) try to enforce their eligibility criteria for status. If they relaxed on that it would be a free-for-all nightmare.

Agreed indeed. But Fre for all, is only for those who try...and theyy are few and far between at this level.....but yes selling your loyalty with forward bookings will indeed elevate your position...(his when I say yours ;-))

IMO silver is not worth chasing but if you really like/want it, pony up for a flight and take a short cheap trip.

Silver is worth striving for if not able to reach higher.

Priority checkin, extra luggage allowance, international seat selection and 50% bonus points.

If you're not prepared to do,crazy stuff to achieve status, then you probably won't fit in here (lol). We all do it.
:).

If you already have some QF ff points you could use those to position somewhere then fly back on a paid fare that earns SC. Just remember to check the fares in both directs to make sure the paid fare is the cheapest, assuming award space is available on the other one.

If you qualify for Silver this memberhips year with 300 SC you only need 250 to retain that level next year.

What city are you in?

If 5 SC short take return trip on the shortest flight you can find or one way and hire a car back !

Book a cheap one way flight which would earn 10SC and then do the return leg in Jetstar or Tiger if $ is an issue.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

If you call QFF, they will upgrade you to Silver on 5 credits short

Didn't happen for me a few years ago when I was already silver and only 5SC short of retaining silver even though I had a trip already booked for the first week of the new cycle.

I had to drop to bronze and start again. Wasn't impressed.

Another option is on the night of the 31st, fly somewhere for 10 SC, overnight, then on the morning of the 1st fly back. The 10SC will start your tally for requalification in your next member year.
