Help for Star Alliance newbie

hi there

Usually fly one world but recently got *A gold via TK status match and so considering a RTW business trip

It would seem that it is impossible to get *A gold from Krisflyer with one single journey, even if one maxes out the RTW miles at 39,000

Would I be better to keep directing to TK rather than trying to get there via Krisflyer?

Seems you might be right.

Your Elite Gold membership will be renewed if you earn at least 50,000 Elite miles during your Elite Gold membership year.

I'm an AC Aeroplan member and have looked several times for an *A alternative. I think re Aegean .. too good to be true, will be stomped on soon .. so my refuge is going to be United.

The main reason to credit to A3 is status (*G for 20,000). There are better earn/burn options with others.

Yes A3 is the best and easiest for *G but that will offer no benefits for VA... But as you say it seems like it may take forever to get *G through SQ...

Without doing any number crunching as don't fly VA, you have TK *G don't you, if you can status match that to Aegean and their *G for 3 years that way thereby reducing the need to try to requalify with TK, would you be better to put your SQ flights towards VA and getting Gold or Plat outright with them in the Velocity program and any perks you want when flying SQ (or other *A airlines) you get through your current TK *G???

I really only do O/S J travel for work and pay for MEL-SYD commute myelf

I have QF WP until Dec 15, but lose VA Gold at end of October.

Yes TK Gold keeps me in *A Gold until Mar 16

You may find it extremely difficult to get A3 to status match another *A airline. They did a lot of matches for BMI DC, but that was only because BMI was leaving *A.
