That could describe virtually any road in Australia, wouldn't it? For a honeymoon drive (ie no time pressure, see the sights) the Princess highway would be my pick over the faster but dry and dreary Hume highway/freeway. But I expect Dan has done his homework anyway.

Or even straight over the top of the Snowy's, in summer anyway.

The Commodore SV6 (or Falcon XR6) will be an interesting taste of the Australian automotive industry, although sadly, both cars (including the Caprice) are being euthanised very shortly.
The Caprice is essentially a SV6 that's been stretched with a lot more luxurious interior. Think of it as something like a newer Lincoln Town car (big, spacious but probably a bit rough around the edges, esp when compared to cars of a similar size ie Mercedes S Class).

Don't stress about driving on the Princess Highway. it's fine. The vast majority of fatalities in Australia are associated with drugs (including alcohol) and falling asleep at the wheel so as long as you're keeping awake (and not stoned!!!) you should be fine! From my experience driving around the world, Australia drivers are law abiding and follow the road rules. As others have said, though, the police here are obsessed with speed limits. You WILL get a fine if you're caught by a speed camera at 3km/h over the limit, although highway patrol cops are usually a bit nicer and won't pull you over until you're 10+ above the limit.

Howdy, welcome to Australia and have an awesome honeymoon. There is NOTHING better than a Caprice 6l V8 - our old 1995 monster still sounds like the world's coming to an end. Huge gas bill though, so keep that in mind. The new models are breathtaking, better street cred than the OOOO (Audi). We were chauffeured to SYD airport for our USA trip last year and they are beasts.
We're diehard Mustang fans when in the States and have been National customers for over 5 years now. Great company, great cars and the wide open roads in America are the stuff dreams are made of. Don't expect the same road quality over here, our Government keeps it's hands in pockets when it comes to maintenance - in some areas we are one level away from third world.

I'd go the Caprice. Don't let all those girly boys dissuade you from travelling the Princess Hwy. I recently did Melbourne - Sydney on this road on my motorbike over 4 days. Will be down there again over Easter.

Great road once you are south of Nowra. Lots of roadworks between Kiama and almost as far as Nowra atm. If you are not in a hurry you will have great scenery lovely coastal towns. Turn onto the coast road at Gerringong to see a lovely seaside village, though you will miss the town of Berry, but also the roadworks there.
Watch for police Hwy Patrol (i.e. watch the posted speed) just north of Batemans Bay. Don't be lulled into thinking you just passed him and put your foot down, there is another patrolling the road for 30km south too.

Stop for coffee and an Aussie pie at the The Heritage Bakery, Milton just north of Ulladulla. Good coffee, better than the muck your mob drinks. Some great secluded beaches just off the main road a little south of Ulladulla with kangaroos and goannas right down on the beach. Further south don't miss Bermagui where author Zane Grey used to fish for marlin. Take the coast road from here to Tathra (careful a poor lady got swallowed here by a white pointer not so long ago) and all little beaches in between. Merimbula, the old whaling port of Eden then 80km clear road to Lakes Entrance.
Someone mentioned Omeo. You can turn inland just south of Lakes and go up country to Omeo, Bright, Myrtleford etc. Lovely high country and contrasting to the coast.

Oh, btw leaving Sydney, turn off at either Lofus and go through National Park, or a little further at Waterfall and drive to Stanwell Tops where flying was really invented by Australian Lawrence Hargrave, the coastal bridge just south, then through Coalcliff, Austinmer and rejoin the hwy.
