Didn't see this posted elsewhere.. awesome news and beaten JQ to the punch...

Hawaiian Airlines adds second Australian port
Hawaiian Airlines has just announced the debut of nonstop flights between Brisbane and Honolulu, with the thrice weekly operation to commence from 28 November this year.
The move will see HA become the only US carrier to fly to the Queensland capital, with the new flights connecting in Hawaii with same-carrier same-day services to other Hawaiian islands.
"Australians love Hawaii, and our decision to introduce three flights per week from Brisbane to Honolulu reflects the strength of the Queensland market," said HA President and CEO, Mark Dunkerley.
The new flights will add more than 40,000 seats annuallly between Australia and Hawaii, and increase HA's total capacity from Australia by 38%.
Flight HA444 will depart BNE at 6.35pm every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and arrive in Honolulu at 7.50am the same day.
The return service HA443 will depart Hawaii at 9.45am each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, arriving in Brisbane at 4pm the following day in time for onward connections to destinations across Australia.

Ticket sales have not yet opened for the service which will be operated using 262-seat Boeing 767-300ER aircraft with 18 business class seats.
Hawaiian Airlines also operates daily A330-200 services from Sydney to Honolulu.

Yes, great news. I'm booked to fly BNE-SYD-HNL in December, but will probably change it to the new BNE-HNL direct. Effectively cuts about 4 hours off the journey time.

Yes it is great news. It also means you don't have to overnight in Sydney on the return leg if living in QLD. Shame they are using the old 767 though.

Thanks for posting.

Looks like they are finding a use for the 763 now the A330s are arriving.

Shame it's the older product but well done to BNE for attracting HA.

Another option to continental US - wonder how it connects with mainland flights?

Doesn't seem to be showing as an AAdvantage award yet. SYD-HNL shows...

Great news for us Gold Coasters - the transit through Sydney is time consuming - I'm sure plane updates will happen as popularity grows.

First flight into Brisbane yesterday - anyone got any feedback?

No direct reports but came across these.

Note the commemorative decal on the 763. HA 763's also have the blended winglet upgrade as you can see but sadly still the same old cabin interior. I guess this route will eventually get A330's but it's probably not a priority route as there is no competition unlike into Sydney.

Friends booked SYD/HNL (rather than BNE/HNL) due to new aircraft on that route.

One of our fellow AFFer's where on this flight.

Be interested to see her comments.

And QF still charge $11k for the flights...

I know someone who flew SYD-HNL with HA last week in J (or F, as they market it to Americans). On his return flight he said there was a group who had flown over in QF J on the 767 and were so disgusted with being served up a 767 for their flight over that they had cancelled and booked HA J for return. The cost of doing that must have been frightening, assuming QF applied the fare rules to their cancellation.

If the group did their research prior to purchasing their tickets they would've realised it was a B767 aircraft. Were they expecting an A380 or something? Sounds like a case of more dollars than sense.

Will be interested to see how the HA 767 on the BNE/HNL service compares to QF.
