Hawaiian Reward seats

We went as well as we could hope I think and better than I expected. The bar in business was great as we could go and sit there in the early hours of the morning when the kids woke up (they slept about 6h) and had our dinner and breakfast there to avoid disturbing them. On the way over I was seated in 16D and was very lucky to have 2spare seats next to me (the centre 2 of the middle row in PE you can raise the armrest) and so the 2yo had a ‘bed’. We are considering going back next year with my 7yo as well as the other 2 kids but suspect we might need to go economy due to cost :(.

Availability seems to have dried up for partners now. Was hoping to snag 2 J seats during August sometime but not seeing anything !!

What route?

Fairly flexible, preference would be BNE-LAS but BNE/SYD - LAX/LAS/SFO would all work.
Economy is out there, but no business as far as I can see. Surely I haven’t missed it already? Been checking fairly thoroughly and have EF alerts set up.

Perhaps they release availability in blocks.

How have you been looking on Expert Flyer? Hawaiian award seats aren't shown using the usual method, so you'd need to set alerts for "paid" flight availability in D/T class (for J/Y awards).

I'm not even seeing any HA seats on AKL-HNL at the moment, so I suspect they're just releasing J seats in blocks and they aren't released yet as far out as August 2020.

Yep have been searching in D class. Thanks - guess I’ll just keep being patient or end up going with a VA/DL mix instead.

Has anyone had any recent success trying to get sydney - hnl or bne - hnl when I ring virgin they said oct-nov-dec nothing available for 2 adults 1 child, any help would be appreciated thanks

You haven't specified which class of travel, but I assume business class?

Getting 3 seats on the same flight will be difficult at any time of the year. But if you don't mind flying via AKL, there are a handful of dates with availability for 3 people between May and July this year.

Hawaiian doesn't always release all of its seats 330 days out. Sometimes booking 3-9 months out brings up more options with them.

I did get 3 BNE-HNL back in mid 2019 for March 2020 travel.
I did the recommended American Airlines check of availability & when was rang Virgin & secured the J seats. Thought I was very fortunate to get 3.
Keep trying as much of a pain it is to keep checking, but hopefully you'll be rewarded.
cheers

We booked ours via AKL...
Same here - HNL - AKL in Y (no J award available) early October. Overnight at the AKL Novotel then a paid VA J flight AKL-MEL-BNE, We'll probably pay a bit more for the extra comfort seats on HAL.
