Been trying to book an award ticket from Sydney to Hawaii using velocity points but it seems impossible. Called check for Oct, Nov, Jan and Feb availabilities and there is 0 ticket for economy and business. The award tickets are available for almost every day if you check on Hawaiian airline rewards program.

Anyone knows what’s going on?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

This topic was briefly discussed on the latest AFF on Air episode. If I remember correctly, the guest said there is availability from AKL, but nothing from SYD at the moment.

HA's program runs on variable pricing. This is no different to outgoing partner Delta and incoming one United. Due to this Hawaiian may show award seats for their own customers at inflated prices (but partners don't have access to this award space).

Mind you many HA flights are going out very full (some selling out in premium cabins months in advance) so it makes sense for HA to reduce the number of award seats currently offered.

I flew Hawaiian HNL-SYD last week on a velocity points ticket. I called a few times and the availability changed each time. I was not able to get the outbound ticket via points.

On an unrelated topic - does anyone know what efforts have been made since Covid on bringing Hawaii/Balinese style oceanfront resorts to Australia? We have so many potentially great spots, especially up in FNQ
