Have you recently had an abortion? - Australian transiting through US questioned then deported.

Wow. However seems to be more related to a possible visa waiver program breach?
Maybe something of a click bait headline given the recent abortion-related legal judgements in the US.

Heard many bad stories about going into the US, a friend studying at a uni in Montana, went back home due to a family death, on arrival back into the states she was denied entry, handcuffed and put on a flight to Sydney, seemed her particular visa at the time was the issue. If I remember correctly she had to sort it before returning home. So after 6 weeks back home and several trips to the consulate she managed to get the issue sorted and was able to go back to the uni.

click bait for sure, but just another example of why I will not transit through the US for any reason, only direct flights to Canada for us.

Very click-bait headline.
Actual story nothing to do with it.
Seems that the cat sitter was unaware that she can’t travel to the USA on an ESTA and be employed of sorts as a cat sitter.
Not that it has stopped her before and she has had previous widespread publicity for it and her travel blog.

I think the abortion stuff had nothing to do with her expulsion in the first paragraph mentioning possibly working in Canada might have been more to the point.
But then that wouldn't have fitted the Guardian's agenda.

The Supreme Court ruling was that it was the States that could decide on abortion rules as the Constitution didn't give the Federal government that right.
California has already ruled that abortion is legal
This happened at LAX so it wasn't relevant to her being deported.

I will say that the idea that she was even asked about having an abortion is a lie. -- Never happened. So I would guess there was something else a lot more serious to her deportation.

Like she probably put down “Professional cat sitter“ on the ESTA….
