It would be interesting to see responses and whether any future decision making is affected by the recent bad publicity.

I have never flown Jetstar and will never flly them unless my life depends on it and there is no alternative.

Yes, 5 times in total (3 Dom, 1 Intl, 1 Asia).

3 times has been out of necessity - One domestic flight was the only one available, the International flight was on points and the Asia flight was because they use T1 at SIN and I needed to transfer to a QF flight.

On average they've been about 40-50 mins late each time, with the Asia flight the only one leaving close to the ETD.

The International flight was actually quite good, as I was in Starclass, and I'd gladly fly Starclass again, but within Australia I always go with DJ first, and would only fly JQ if absolutely positively necessary.

Really, I have no need for JQ. If I want to fly somewhere I use DJ, and if I need to go on the cheap I use TT. Works for me.

Yes, Number of times.

Internationally.
SYD-HNL (*C) - Great apart from the really bad bacon & egg sandwich
SYD-BKK-SYD (*C) - Brilliant.

Domestically
DRW-BNE - Only early morning flight. No issues
SYD-HTI-SYD - Great

Asia
SIN-HKT - super cheap and good.

Never had a flight more than 10min late. Staff always courteous and friendly.

Booked for SYD-OOL and SYD-MEL in coming months from the Int terminal.

Haven't flown Jetstar for years because of a few major issues with them... Haven't looked back either!

Am not a big JQ fan, but they're not that bad if nothing goes wrong. Great for FLounge runs! ;)

3 segments on JQ,

1 Segment JQi economy (QF codeshare)

~12 Segments JQi Starclass.

MEL-HBA-MEL, booked by someone else (v. cheap tickets).

Checkin station broken (JQ's fault), at HBA 'rockiest' landing ever (not JQ's fault, extremely strong crosswind), warm beer on plane (JQ's fault), otherwise uneventful.

Defo not my first choice, but would not rule out flying them in future, if the circumstances warranted it.

4 segments flown, 2 DOM (BNE-CNS-BNE) and 2 INT (BNE-CHC-BNE). And 8 segments booked.

No issues so far. I flew JQ, purely because they were cheap. VERY cheap. It's like hiring the Yaris from Hertz, even though you really want the Merc....

The positives - the 2MP clan can all legitimately get into the QP (with SWMBO being a PG) and eat/drink whatever so avoiding the need to do so on the flight.

The negatives - none so far.

Last year it was worth it anywhere with the SC’s, this year, not so much. If I really wanted to go to another MEL drinks then $79 from OOL is better value to me than $155 from BNE. But as there are no SC’s this year, fares would have to be rockbottom for me to go. I don’t mind the service (other than check-in) but it’s just not worth it status wise.

I used them occassionally in Australia for work without other choices at that time (eg BNE-DRW, BNK-MEL, MEL-OOL), and a couple of times during sales for leisure.

Also I have flown Jetstar Asia several times, to HCM City and Phnom Penh and have some more bookings later to Jakarta and Hongkong ($100 AUD return SIN-HKG-SIN, or actually I paid $125 for the return flight - with an exit row on one of the two sectors.. .not going to complain).

So I do use them opportunistically, when the fares are good, when I only have hand luggae and/or I have a simple non time critical itinerary.

I am more inclined to use Jetstar Asia than Jetstar (Australia) because they are a new carrier on their routes. Whereas I am more principled against Jetstar in Aus, because of the Jetstar-isation of QF routes  Also in Australia, usually you can either find QF to nearby ports for not much more than Jetstar, or at the very least DJ ... out of SIngapore, SQ usually are more than double the price of Jetstar Asia (and other LCC's) and thats usually fares that don't accrue points.

As long as they maintain high safety standards, that is the main thing. In the grand scheme of things, everything else is immaterial.

no but wanting to try international starclass. if they ever get europe routes this could very well be an ideal option for me.

*Class from Gold Coast to Narita (return) last year, bought two tickets (sale fares) for June and September this year, same route. Best option from Brisbane area, 240SC's and $1100 return for *Class

Other than that, I stick to QF and OW partners. And the occasional Air Canada flight in winter, only LAX - Montreal direct option available.

Always DJ for me.

Have had a couple of good flights on JQ, but still - they aren't a match for DJ.

Have flown JQ *class BKK-MEL and was pleasantly surprised. Staff were attentive; the seat was comfortable (plus I had a free one next to me) and the toilets (always a good barometer!) were decidedly better than the J class RJ ones on the flight that got me into BKK.

Would definitely fly *class again although only if a connection from them was not time-critical. (My flight left on time but, being an LCC, wouldn’t rely on that.)

Have never flown them domestically: I like my SCs :D

Nope, the recent kerfuffleS won't stop me from flying JQ. In fact, I am always looking out for good deals with JQ as they are the most frequent in releasing great deals - they always have really good fares.

My experience with JQ:

JQi SYD-HNL return x 2
JQi SYD-HKT
and a bulk of JQ's SYD-MELvv (never AVV) and SYD-OOL vv

So far, I am happy with them so far (as I've never had a problem except the one small delay of 35minutes), I get QP (soon to be FLounge) access and great low fares.

I fly JQ about 10 times per year, however this is only because QF withdrew from the route and the only alternative is DJ and their flight times don't suit.

JQ are fine as long as nothing goes wrong, and a bit of a nightmare when things do go wrong. I've had many delayed flights, but fortunately no cancellations. Their rules can be petty, rigid and extremely frustrating to deal with. Have flow *class once to NRT and was pleasantly surprised with the flight. However knowing JQ I took my flight 2 days earlier than I needed to be in Japan just to allow for delays and possible cancellations. I wouldn't have felt the need to do that with other carriers, and this was a bit of an inconvenience.

Twice due to no choice in the matter.
SYD-OOL for conference.
SYD-Hamilton Island (dunno code) for conference.

As I said no choice.
Don't fly DJ either unless I can avoid it and I nearly always can.
