My wife and two kids (8 and 10) are stopping in GUANGZHOU for 6 hours this week. I can't work out which airport lounge is best if I need to pay for them. Most seem to only have two hours even if you pay. Terminal 2 for arrival and departure. Any tips / suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Do you intend to stay airside? Maybe consider getting a hotel room may be another option if you are looking for rest? The pullman at the terminal is quite nice.

The main issue with a 6 hour layover is that they may not allow entry - even visa free or transit without visa.

It’s a bit of a cough shoot. Unless the OP’s family has already entered China and is connecting domestically.

It’s not an issue at all. Nothing in the rules allow short visits and in fact if they are flying MU they can go on a city tour that leaves at 0930 and ends 1430.

As far as lounges go they are pretty good all things considered, the Premium lounge is better than the MU Pearl lounge but that opinion may have been swayed by the coughtails I got served.

Many reports of short stays - even up to 12 hours - being denied entry.

Entry is at the discretion of the border officer. At least on a tour they can track your expected return. But being allowed onto to the tour is also not guaranteed.

Never seen any issues, and I go through CAN almost for-nightly for the last three years, including when 144hr transit was the only option. When there has been an issue it’s been with the onward port of the 144hr transit, but since our change of government customs has a relaxed attitude to Aussie Passport holders.
