A shocking accident: Ground worker sucked into engine
I must admit I'm surprised that the ingress of air would be that powerful during push back; I guess details will emerge in due course
In a shocking accident, an Air India service engineer has been killed after he was sucked into the live engine of an A-319 aircraft at Mumbai airport on Wednesday evening, according to the Times of India newspaper. The engineer, identified as Ravi Subramanium, was in his 40s. At the time of the newspaper's going to the press, the body was yet to be recovered from the engine.
The incident took place about 8.30pm when the aircraft for the Mumbai-Hyderabad AI flight 619 was being pushed back from the parking bay before take off. Hours later, his body was still being extracted from the engine.
