I'm looking at BNE-LAX fares for next week, and noticed something odd. I have the choice of Sale, Saver and Flex on both legs. If I choose Saver on QF16, every single other fare option across every single flight (and there are 16 of them - direct, via SYD, MEL etc) is greyed out. I understand usually it will do that to stop incompatible fare selections - but all of them? Within the Saver class are some buckets not allowed to be priced togeher? Seems very strange.

It's probably more about fare rules than inventory. For example, some of the cheaper fares ("Saver") specially thise close in may have minimum stay or other restrictions attached which are affecting what's being offered up. A call to res could probably confirm this too.

It's the stupid QF web site. it has been like this for as long as I have been flying QF. Just call up and confirm that you should be able to select the two fares you want and then tell them you can't do it on the web site and they will waive the phone assistance fee. If this is not offered or they try to charge you the assistance fee you will need to be a bit forceful or just HUACA.

Have you tried the more expensive fares to see if you can get a way back to Aust time of flight that suits?
Instead of Sale fare, on same day going to US, go one subclass across.
