I just read this TR where the OP had finally visited every state and territory after the flight to DRW:
http://www.australianfrequentflyer....rgin-australia-redeye-melbourne-nt-57646.html

It got me wondering how many AFF members have flown in/out of each and every capital city airport (ADL/BNE/CBR/DRW/HBA/MEL/PER/SYD in no particular order) within the shortest period? For me, I think it was between April 2012 and October 2013 (18 months).

If I'd visited ADL last year it would have been 8 months... but my flight coming up this month stretches it out to 10 months.

And it'd have been a calendar year Grand Slam...

I've done the 5 majors within a week and a half (also threw in AKL for good measure). Haven't been to Tassie since I was 1. Excluding HBA, the shortest period for covering all capital cities was 8 months. Starting with a trip to DRW, numerous trips to BNE / SYD / MEL / ADL finishing with a trip to PER...

I'll have five of those within a period of one month. Might be quite some time before I collect the other three, especially as two are places I've never been.

I consider 2006 the year when I could first independently travel.

From there and my hometown of BNE, my list has been as follows:
  • PER - Jul 2006
  • SYD - Oct 2006 (flew out of SYD; arrived in NTL and drove down)
  • SYD - Jan 2007 (flew into SYD, although only transit)
  • ADL - Jan 2007 (only transit)
  • MEL - Nov 2007
  • SYD - Feb 2008 (flew in and out of SYD with stopover)
  • HBA - May 2008
  • CBR - Aug 2008 (transit only)
  • ADL - Nov 2008 (stopover)
  • DRW - May 2011

So it's taken me about 5 years to visit all of them, but the last one took another 3 years or so before it was done. Also, I guess if you were pedantic and don't count transits, then maybe I don't qualify as I've never flown in and out of CBR that was not a transit (viz. greater than 24 hours spent in the city, although I have overnighted in CBR for less than 24 hours). (I have visited Canberra before, but that was via driving).

I would have to answer "No idea" as my record keeping is shocking.

I did do SYD-ADL-ASP-AYQ-PER-BME-DRW-GOV-CNS-BNE-SYD in 4 days sometime in 2007-2008.

I believe Ozfest V in HBA was May 2008 and I travelled there via MEL and if Virgin started flying to CBR around that time that completes the set but not sure of the exact time frame.

Transit in CBR? I'm taking the guess it was part of some status run or was it an actual genuine transit?

I'll have the major five (BNE/SYD/MEL/ADL/PER) under my belt in 2 1/2 months staring next Friday, all on personal funds, plus AKL to use my passport & a trip to ROK for country time!

If we also want to go off Busiest Airports visited, I'll complete the Top 7 (Major 5 + OOL/CNS) by end of May

The Party never stops :D Platinum here I come....

Still yet to tick off CBR/HBA/DRW - One of these days :)

Closest I've come was last year flying into every state and territory capital except Hobart, although I did catch the ferry to Tasmania. That's a good effort by my standards, over about nine months.

A couple of times were genuine transits - didn't leave the airport.

Other times I did leave the airport and seek overnight lodging (or in one case, just pulled an all-nighter), but the time between flights did not exceed 24 hours, so I call that a "transit" :)

Have yet to travel to HBA, PER and DRW. No idea when I'll get the opportunity

I will be doing MCY-SYD-MCY then MCY-MEL-SYD-MCY then BNE-ADL-PER-BNE in 11 days starting next week. No Hobart or Darwin but Maroochydore instead.

I have done all but DRW in the last month. Haven't been to Darwin since 2012.

Someone at JQ must be reading this thread given that they have just sent an email on sale fares to DRW yesterday:
Northern Territory | Jetstar

I did all of them within about 4 months except HBA. But I did go to Launceston.

I ticked off the calendar grand slam in 2006 with a couple of months spare:
Departed CBR 18Mar06
DRW (Home) Mar Apr Sep Oct Nov Dec
MEL Apr Dec
SYD Sep Nov Dec
PER Oct
BNE Mar Nov
ADL Nov Dec
Arrived HBA 16Dec06

So a couple of days short of 9 months.

Actually a closer look tells me I can get it down to just under 4 months if I go the other way from my PER trip:

Depart PER 7Oct06
DRW Oct Nov Dec Jan
BNE Nov
SYD Nov Jan Feb
ADL Nov Dec
MEL Dec
HBA Dec Jan
Arrive CBR 5Feb07
