Has anybody had any experience with VA allowing a small grace period on expiring complimentary upgrades? My review date was yesterday and I intended to book flights and use the upgrades all day...and of course I woke up this morning and remembered. Doh!

I just called the Velocity Platinum number to ask if perhaps they had a grace period - even just a 24 hour one - where I could still use the upgrades. I understand the Ts & Cs but I thought it was just worth having a try. Anyway the call centre agent gave me the usual call centre style reasons; that she couldn't do anything as "the system" does it, etc.

Anyway I'm in the wrong. It's my fault. VA has done nothing wrong. But I just thought I'd ask if anybody here has been in a similar position and maybe been given some leeway?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I can't see why not.

I asked about getting an extension for a complimentary lounge pass of a month, and they said that would be doable (but to ring back closer to the expiration date in Oct).

With you being Plat, I'd be surprised if there were any problems.

I'm not sure about the context but i did find this clause in the Velocity T&Cs

7.13 In respect of any adjustment to a lower Membership Level, you will continue to enjoy the benefits of your previous Membership Level for a one month grace period.

The whole palaver is here if you want to try and see if it means like it seems to; as I say, I haven't tried to put any context around the statement.
