Got comped Gold Elite next year

I got this too, off the back of soft-landing to Gold after getting platinum thanks to Virgin. However I haven't stayed at IHG properties all that much recently as the prices have not been competitive IMHO for most of the places I visit (domestic capitals).
 
Mine arrived today. Thought it might be as I signed up for there discount program a few weeks ago. Have stayed with them a bit but not enough to get Gold.
 
Maybe they are realising their new levels are a bit high, and members need to get a taste of the benefits to understand why?

(Yes, yes.......I do say this somewhat in jest, but IHG benefits are a bit "obscure".)

Watch this space, next year expect guaranteed benefits similar to what's on offer already for PRC hotels.

Gold Member:


-Welcome drink
-15% off difference in room rates to upgrade to Club Floor or suites (Club Lounge access when upgrading to Club Floor)




Platinum Member:


-Welcome drink
-Free upgrade to next room category
-30% off difference in room rates to upgrade to Club Floor or suites (Club Lounge access when upgrading to Club Floor)
-In-room amenity

Now that would make a plat requal push worthwhile in my books. Bring it on.
 
One of the PC codes I registered (1038)for (with a late credit adjustment of all things) prompted an indication the offer was completed & I have been promoted to Gold Status.

Don't know if it really worked as was already Gold from the Virgin benefit.

I received the same thing in the mail today, Its a bit bewildering as I dont recall having joined.
Is this a partner card of some kind? AMEX etc?
 
It would be nice if they didn't treat reward stays as second class...as they usually do.
 
Yeah I got my Gold Elite card as well. Have had three stays this year when there wasn't a Hilton available.

The free internet is welcome.
