Spotted this while waiting for my iced latte. QF is to ditch the [much beloved / univerally depised] Newson tableware and instead go with products from Japanese haute producer Noritake. As the article points out, and as plate flippers and spoon starers everywhere will know, Noritake used to produce items for QF, so it's a case of 'feels like home to me'.

Not word on if the camping set cutlery will be also ditched. Given the article explains that weight is a reason for the switch, one would assume we may be [happily / cursed] with the distinctive and lightweight knifes and forks for years yet.

The rest of the article is the usual QF/Joyce palaver about how the poor suckers in the back of the 787 will love the 17 hours of the PER>LHR flight because of the millions of dollars spent on research into meal timings and so on. The harder they try and sell it as being totally awesome the more you know it's going to be almost torture. Onwards and upwards.
