I thought I would share my experience (and some other people) on items that one should bring on a flight to reduce the stress of flying (in any class):
1. Noise cancellation Earphone or headphone: I personally prefer earphone over headphone because it is easy to carry (compact), good passive noise isolation, and comfortable to wear while trying to sleep and generally cheaper than headphone. I personally own a Denon AH-NC-600 and had Phillips & Sony NC earphone before. They are all very good.
2. Something to read; magazines, books and comic books.
3. Neck/head rest & Eye mask: for a good night sleep, if there is such thing on a flight.
4. iPad/iPhone/tablet PC or portable media player: My personally experience that if you are a freq flyer invest into one of the above. I think iPad is wonderful (I don’t own one, but we borrow one from a friend to test on a short-haul flight). It works wonder as we loaded the movie/tv series/music we wanted on the iPad and watch them on the flight. Also it is less stressful when the screen is movable so you can adjust where you want the screen and not worrying about people reclining into your face. You can also play games (monopoly on tablet PC is good for couples). You can even load books into them.
5. Travel in pairs: Having your other half next to you can reduce the boringness of the flight, increase personal space (raising the arm rest in-between) and someone to talk to as well. However, if he/she starts nagging, you can also put on the NC earphone mention above^^
6. Last but not least, a relax mind and body: I found that going to the gym/swim before a flight helps with coping with flight stress. If not a good night sleep the night before will assist somewhat too. The most important thing is to have relax, easy-going mindset before the flight and during the flight.
Well that’s my 5c worth of experiences

Anyone get others that want to add, please post down below!
Cheers
