LOL This is so hilarious, amazing how POed the golds are over a seat. Seriously, if getting row 7 is the worst thing that happens on a flight, you really have very little to worry about. Id be more worried about the contents of the maggot wrap myself, or the lack of catering alltogether, or the inferior inconsitant service across the board, or the coughpy res system, or the promises of all this new and exciting stuff that has been "coming" for two years. Honestly they must be on one hell of a dose of cough to be coming for the time its taking them.
But, lets just have a cry about seats instead of all the inconsistancies and pathetic shortcomings!!!!!
Yes, as a Platinum, I get the "Better" seats, however, I really would prefer some consistancy and qulity, rather than the half hearted cough ups, scrooge like SC behaviour and broken promises that are occuring far too often

ROFL. I note your profile. By the sound of it, if QF Silvers were downgraded in status perks, then it'd be a shrug of the shoulders and "No worries", or rather "That's hilarious".

People have a range of things they think important on a flight, or from a FF program, but I reckon you'll usually find seating up there in most of them.

The argument by the OP was simply along the lines of "No problems with seat priority for Plats, but Golds should be before the ruck for seating, and I suggest the golds who are concerned, complain."

I'm in that boat, and I shall. Thanks to the OP for bringing up the issue.

I have a flight on Sunday and will take my chances at the airport and see what I am given.
I have no problem with plats getting row 3. In fact I think us golds had it pretty good there for a while...too good.
I'm a bit different though. If I don't get row 3, then I really don't care where I sit as long as it's an aisle seat.

Can't really degrade QF silver perks can you. I really don't give a flying @&$% if they do degrade whatever small benefits i get as a silver QF. Provided they have a seat, some good service, and the ability to actually book a seat online without hassle

They are penny pinching ATM, and it seems absurd to be worrying about what SC. runs they can eliminate, when their whole system and attitude has gone down the coughper

Pleased my profile give you some amusement, I will check yours out and see if I piss myself laughing as well

Shall we light the flares to alert the pitch-fork wielding mob?

Tomorrow night we will be flying to BNE on VA and as my partner has slipped to Gold this year, it is likely to be Row 7 for us. Not hugely concerned though as economy is still economy - not overly fussed where we sit.

I'm not sure what was unclear about "my experiences". In any case, there is a lack of evidence to support your statement.
I'm not sure what was unclear about your experiences being less representative of the frequent flyer population than those of all members of this forum taken collectively (of which you are a subset). This is trivially true, and does not discount your experiences. If AFF's membership is a representative sample of outspoken frequent flyers, there is a lack of evidence (in the posts critical about VA last year, say) for seating being a major widespread problem before the changes. Compare seating allocation to say refurbishment inconsistencies, catering, interoperability between DJ/VA/Velocity systems, etc. In short, overkill.

I like the fact I get access to row 3 - in fact I'm about to board at SYD on 3F :) Most of the time I forget to select a seat and pretty often i end up 3A or 3F - assumedly because I selected window in my seat pref
