I just got upgraded to Gold, the Velocity site said i was a few points off (490+ points).

Anyone know why this would happen?

I assume you are talking 490 status credits and not velocity points. Since you are close to 500 SCs which is the number of SCs required to be upgraded to SG , velocity might have upgraded your membership status.

This is quite common and happens only when you are within the reach of attaining the required credits.

yer status points, sorry

ok - that's good am about to fly and annoyed that i was only a few short of qualifying!

Status upgrades when youre just a few status credits (not points) short of qualifying does happen.

My hubby was about 10 SC short back in Oct and they bumped him to Platinum. He also had 4 flights booked for Dec so dont know if that played a part.
