Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I have flights booked for later in the year which I booked as Gold, so itinerary shows Gold luggage amounts included in the ticket. When I go to fly though I'll only be silver... Which one will apply...

This is only a guess, but I'd say the benefits when booking. Once booked and paid for, you'll have your itinery which will show your luggage allowance. I'd suggest it would be pretty hard for them to take back what's already given and to be honest, I doubt their computer system is up to it.

Mmm, interesting question.

I agree with Swanning_it ... seems unlikely their systems would cope with movement in status after booking ... which begs the question ... if you book when Silver and become Gold before you fly, presumably you won't get Gold bennies???? Unless you throw a DYKWIA at checkin I guess.

Moving up a status level is an easier one to solve - you can simply ring virgin and ask them to re-issue your ticket with the new status. Otherwise, just show your new card at check-in.

The only situation when this really becomes an issue is when you change status whilst away and don't have your new card to fly back with - I had this flying etihad. Made Gold on the way over but only had my silver card which meant they didn't want to give me my extra baggage allowance (thankfully a supervisor over-ruled the decision ;) )

Sorry for the self-indulgence, but I requalified for Gold this morning, all self-funded travel. Hooray for me:

I'm definitely jealous ... work flights I know will be dying down so will have to fork out for myself a bit - though I do have 11 months to requalify =)
