Gold Extension - Any Tips?

Does anyone have any tips on ways to politely request a status extension?
What type of things help bolster the request?
Do they care about past travel in earlier years? (I havent travelled much in 2023).
I have a few upcoming domestic trips in the works - my work will book Economy flex fares .. but I'm not sure how long that will take to lock them in. The travel wont be until after my anniversary date on 24 Jan.

I'm pretty far away from retaining gold this year, and I don't appreciate the benefits enough to try to lock in a massive status run at this stage.

Any advice?
Is it worth asking?

You'll probably find if you drop to Gold, a few months afterwards they will offer a challenge to re-gain Gold.

I think to get any sort discretionary retention, you need to be very close to achieve retaining.

They wont bite with flexi fares, as they're fully refundable to travel bank / $99 back to original form of payment.

No offer sadly.
Might look at star alliance gold as an alternative.

Not doing much QF travel these days
