Just used the Business, Gold & Platinum lane to go through security at Gold Coast airport, took me to the front of the other queue were you then had to push in and in turn get chewed out by the other passengers who queued up. What's the point in having it if its not directed clearly at the end, if I was another passenger I'd be pissed off to....

At least that queue was there.

I have been at OOL when the priority security queue was not in operation and it took forever and a day to get through security.

Friday afternoon appeared to be a very quiet day and got through security in ~5 minutes. I hope next Friday is the same as I am on a Tiger flight and dreading the security wait times.

I found the priority queue at OOL quite by chance a couple of weeks ago.
The merge lane was not controlled and we got some dirty looks as we made a bee-line to the front .

i was there last tuesday morning and it actually worked well.

I've noticed it works really, really well when there is no queue, in which case no need for a priority lane. When there is the need for a priority lane, it is more often than not, like a ref-less scrum.

MrsDeKa was very embarrassed by me when I barged through the big line to get to the priority security queue a couple of weeks ago. People glared at us, and she glared at me.
The whole thing is very odd in OOL airport.

Used it on Saturday arvo and it was fine. The queue was patrolled and the boarding pass checked to ensure we were allowed to be there.

Problem is the entrance is facing where passengers from checkin walk. When I was there last week I walked every single passenger walk down the priority lane. This was easter Sunday, so the terminal was dead quiet and not being policed.

Perhaps they could make it harder to find? Didn't really bother me at the end of the day since there was only 5 or so people in the queue!

Used it this morning and it wasn't being policed.....again.

It's raining for something different......I'm soooooo glad we have an airport with that regional feel, without those practical old aerobridges .......

Saw it on Saturday arvo, but itwas quiet. I wondered how it would work when busy as it didnt lead to a specific scanning unit, just into the general public.

As was, mentioned, it would be very easy for regular pax to "fall into" this line without realising.

Last time I was there, it was obvious it was a different lane thanks to all the signage and red carpet, and was actively being policed. I usually walk through without BP though, so always am a little worried they wont know what a WP card looks like :p

All that said, security at OOL is always very slow. Just the clientele?
