Gifting vs Transferring Starpoints difference

Hello everyone,
Sorry for asking this newbie question, but what is the main difference between transferring and gifting Starpoints ?
From what i understand (Please correct me if i am wrong)...

Family members sharing the same address can transfer a maximum of 30k Starpoints with each transaction
to each other (And there is no limit on the number of transfers) ?

An SPG member can only purchase a maximum of 30k Starpoints per year, OR receive a maximum of 30K Starpoints as a gift?

Each Starwood account can purchase OR receive as a gift up to 30k points in any calendar year.

Household points transfers are unlimited as far as I am aware and there is no maximum on the amount you can send to another householders account at any one time. Household transfers DO NOT contribute towards the buying/gifting amounts.
