Gift Vouchers earn status credits?

Hi All,

Wondering if gift vouchers used to book flights will earn status credits? I believe from reading the rules it does, but thought I'd double check



How to earn Status Credits

"You will earn Status Credits when you travel on eligible fares with Virgin Australia and our airline partners, plus on eligible Any Seat redemptions and on fares flown as part of a Virgin Australia Holidays package.

Status Credits are used to determine your Velocity membership level. The higher your membership level, the greater the benefits you will receive."

The purchase of the gift vouchers itself won't but the flights booked and flown using the gift vouchers will.

You certainly do earn on normal fares paid for with a gift voucher, I am a heavy user of the entertainment book and the system is not pretty straightforward and quick, being all electronic.

The other thing with gift vouchers I found is that I had to allow 24 hours before redeeming mine as it was valid only from 6 September even though I purchased and received it on 5 September (I didn't try the call centre as I could afford to wait a day or two).
