Gift Cards at Supermarkets

I have been advised by my local WW that in WA (only?), the WW system is not able to activate the aforementioned cards at this time (since late last week) and therefore they are currently not on sale here.

I bought a few with discounted e-WISH this morning (at a self-serve)
Could buy multiple and receive $WW on each
No intervention required from staff

Visited 4 stores today and none had any stock.

Someone on ozB said can't pay with discounted GC.

My question is does any or both Amex and bank issued card purchase of the Eftpos card count as a cash advance? Or anyone knows which Amex isn't a cash advance?
On discounted gcs - depends on the shop operator at the checkouts or self-serve checkouts.

Decided to get some at full price (sniff sniff no extra 5%) and they came up as typical W purchase.

A guy at my local wow - the third I checked today - to no avail. They simply said most stores didn't get them

2k a month in daycare fees alone here (of which eftpos / Visa is accepted) - i'll be buying as many of these I can get my hands on.... so probably zero :(.

No $100 EFTPOS cards in Woden or Kambah (CBR) today. Some $50s though. I happened to be there when a rep was restocking every other card it seemed. She sagely said if there's none there they're sold out. Marginally more usefully, she said they get restocked "every week or so".

I just got told the same thing, in the St Georges Tce store. Should have checked here first.

I've been to 9 stores so far and have a total of 15 cards bought via my available Wish cards. The stores that have large displays for the promotion have had a few cards but most stores never got any. One store imposed a limit of 3 cards person. One store gave me a $3 voucher because they couldn't supply the advertised item and phoned 2 other local stores trying to find me some.

Even though there was a promo sign for them on top of the gift card cabinet, there were no $100 EFTPOS cards at Majura Park (Canberra Airport) when I check at lunchtime yesterday, just $50 cards.

Nothing at Tuggeranong nor Erindale when I checked this afternoon, not even promo material or $50 cards.

My store has plenty, or so I thought, as they placed one card over each row of iTunes cards on an end isle display. It gave the appearance that the rows were fully stacked with them.

Very limited stock but after 5 in shop visits and 4 phone calls I managed to get 4

It did pass my mind to take some from a Coles and buy them at Woolies. But the potential ramifications are not worth the potential reward

Agree it's not worth the risk. Good luck explaining things when there's a problem at the checkout encoding these at woollies and trying to explain when the manager says that their store didn't get any of these to stock.

Thanks Colin, you've just saved me from checking those stores out

Self Checkouts seem to have limit of 4 per transaction but the helper happy for me to run a second batch through straight after
