Gift Cards at Supermarkets

For WA customers, Coles Subiaco had plenty of $100 Coles MC GC when I bought mine on Saturday. Coles Raine Square only have $50 Coles MC GC in stock.

Hi guys,

I need a bit of an idiot's guide to gift cards here.

Say I want something in Myer worth $800.

I can buy Myer gift cards in Coles (eg using Platinum Edge) and load 3-4 of them to the max to total $800, getting 3 points per dollar spent on the Edge.

Main question is do Myer have to accept multiple gift cards for a single transaction? I'm from Ireland where one transaction per gift card is standard!

And are flybuy points/Etihad tier miles/Status credits awarded on the spend too?

Cheers.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Looks like my partner might get a Dyson hairdryer after all!

Just received email for Coles MC GC promo appears to not have any limit on number of cards 25 October to 8 November. Same deal as before 1000 FB points for $100 GC and 500 points for $50 GC. Will be interesting to see how much supply is available in store this time.

Across our family we have received two different offers - it pays to read the fine print VERY carefully.

#1

#2
2016 10 Coles Prepaid mc 10x points.jpg

Sounds similar but not quite...

With #1 you get 105 points plus 1,000 bonus points = 1,105
With #2 you get 105 points plus 9 x 100 = 1,005

Know which one we'll be using...

Note - max 10 cards PER transaction. No limit on how many transactions (other than AMEX cc limit that is).

Now to see if the docket triple points offers pay out on this....

Unfortunate Note - credited 4 weeks after promotion ends so now ability to transfer at 15% bonus rate to VFF (sound of teeth gnashing).

They didnt on the last offer and they didnt trigger qualifying spend offers

I got offer #1 which is the same as previous offers. Agreed offer 2 would be way more attractive.
Will drop into my local Coles on way home tonight. Hoping we'll have better luck with supply than last offer.

Anyone had 2 of these offers in the last 2 weeks? I got one of these about 10 days ago so don't want to get another one unless it really is a new offer. Actually, it was 2000 FBs that credited on 19/10, for a $100 Mastercard.

Now I have the 10 x points. It is getting confusing.

Don't you just break even with this deal because of the $5 activation fee.

New to this coles mastercard deal, I receive the offer as well and is keen to take advantage of it. Is there a list of coles mastercard that I could buy and any hidden traps to watch out for? Is it charged as cash advance if I buy them using Amex?

you get 3 MR/$1 (if you are using a plat edge- maybe 4MR/$ if you hit local champion on the purchase which is where the cream is. You can then use the MC at places where AMEX is not accepted...or pay ATM and earn 3MR/$1

You just ensure that you buy the card that is pictured on your offer. Normally, it is a Coles MasterCard. You can then spend that anywhere that accepts MasterCard. Unless you get say 2000 per $100 card it's not worth much. Some people have the AMEX Edge card that pays 3 :1 for supermarket buys. So, then 1000 FBs would become 7,000 FBs. That then becomes VA points.

AND, the extra weight of buying a gift card means that you 'offers' will have a very high bar. I bought heaps of these last time and my offers went up to spend $300 a week x 4. I only actually spend about $40 a week when not buying multiple gift cards.

So when do they typically release the 2000 fly buys points deal? I suppose at the moment the added benefit also is the 15% bonus transfer to Velocity.

Last two were for Fathers and Mothers Day. Unfortunately it seems the bonus points will be credited after the VA bonus period ends-should still get the standard FBs in time though

I have read that it is around twice a year. I just did the Father's Day promo. Apparently, there was a Mum's Day one too.

They didn't on the last offer and they didn't trigger qualifying spend offers

The 'triggering' definitely does not work (yet) but points on the other hand...

Hope springs eternal....

and mistakes have happened before (a bit like Monopoly - BANK error in your favour).
