OK, so a noob question here with regards to UA. I'm tentatively planning on heading back to the US in April 2024, to stay on a ranch in Cody, Wyoming - seems United are the only ones who fly to COD (at least as far as I've been able to find), and of course fares are way more expensive than the good old pre=COVID days. Is there any way of getting notifications of UA sales (if there is such a beast these days) for fares to the US without signing up to the Mileage Plus program, or is that the only option? I couldn't find anything on their website. I'd be crediting any points and SCs to VA, so would rather not have to sign up for a FF program I'm not actually going to use.
I was hoping to be able to fly to Seattle to spend time with some friends before heading to the ranch but booking an airfare into COD after a stopover just about anywhere is eye-wateringly expensive, but only a few hundred $$ if tacking it on to a direct there-and-back fare from here (usually via SFO or LAX), hence wanting to try to get a sale fare if at all possible. Apparently quite a few of their guests fly into Billings instead and then get a rental car, as it's not a long drive - not an option for me, as my stay will be almost two weeks and keeping the car for that length of time is ridiculously expensive (anywhere between $1K-$2K) as is a one-way same day drop off in Cody and then paying for the ranch shuttle, which would end up being around the $700-$800 mark in total, based on current pricing. TBH I'd rather not be driving at that time of the year anyway, given there may still be wintry conditions.
We've mainly flown US domestic with Southwest, and they're still very affordable - I wish they covered this route, but the nearest they get is Denver on one side and Bozeman on the other!
