Hi All

I somehow manage to generally avoid flying on Monday mornings and was completely taken by surprise a few weeks back when I encountered traffic backed up several Kms trying to et into SYD domestic, which the taxi driver assured me was normal.

So, being a Monday morning novice, I need to be at MEL airport tomorrow at 7.15ish (8am dep) leaving from Hilton South Wharf. I planned on leaving about 6.30am - should be enough time?!

Appreciate any advice!!

Maybe Mickleham Rd exit then Melrose drive makes sense if driving.

If you leave any later, you can expect the traffic to be backed up several Kms. Personally I'd leave a few minutes earlier, but I'm a little cautious.

It depends if you go by taxi or need to return a rental car and if you need to check in luggage or not.
From HSW to airport It's ~25 min without traffic and ~45 min with traffic.

Thanks all! Ill be in a taxi with only carry on. Might err on the side of caution and leave earlier.

Give yourself enough time is the best bet, every entrance to MEL is chocked on a Monday morning.. Wednesday isn't much better either

Personally I would leave at 6.15am and no later.

:D:mrgreen:LOL!!!!!!!!!!! Good one you just made my night.....LOL:mrgreen:

Thanks All ... I ended up leaving at 6.15am and was at the airport for 6.45. The entrance was really crowded with quite a long taxi queue. I'm glad I didn't leave any later!

The concierge at the hotel had tried to assure me that 20 minutes would be enough! Then again that was just part of a very underwhelming stay overall...

Glad to hear all was good. Sometimes its not the traffic on the road but also the traffic around the airport and security which adds time to your journey.

BTW the concierge at your hotel sounds like he wouldn't know where Collins Street is let alone how long it takes to get to the airport, reckon he pulled that one out of his jumper;)

Cheers:)

I think he'd just been to the same school of coughpy hotel service that the rest of the staff seemed to have gone to! Except the barman who recognized me, even though I was last in the hotel in May :p

How is it on a Friday am (circa 630) currently?

Have avoided OMG O'Clock for a while but have one coming up.....
