Does anyone has any advice on the best way to get to Heathrow in time for the flight above?

Looking at all the transport options -- it looks really hard for me to get to the airport by the required 2 hr before the the flight leaves. It looks like no form of transport will be open that early in the morning.

I am staying at Wellington near the subway station -- but apparently that only opens at 6am.

Any way to actually get to airport (or do I have to the night before and camp there!

The first Heathrow Express train of the morning should be ok. It departs at 5:10am, taking 15 mins to Terminal 1. But your flight is from Terminal 4 and so add another 8 mins for arrival there. Then its probably another 5 mins to the checkin queues. If you are travelling on Club Europe or hold OneWorld Sapphire or Emerald status you can use the premium check-in queues which should speed up that part of the process.

I have arrived at T4 for a BA shorthaul flight with less than 10 mins to boarding time - and still got on the flight. My checked luggage would not have made it through the usual process, so the check-in agent told me to take it through security with me to the gate, where the passengers were bussed to the aircraft at a remote stand. The bag was left at the bottom of the boarding stairs and loaded into the hold. Twas a good way to ensure my bag was first out at CDG .

The other option is to move to a Hotel closer to the airport the night before. There are many options ranging in price and convenience. The most convenient for Terminal 4 has to be the Heathrow Hilton, which is connected to that terminal by a covered walkway. Others have the BAA busses which go regularly for a small fee.

Personally I would be moving to the Heathrow Hilton the night before if I could get it for a reasonable cost.
