Well I booked a hotel through the LifeMiles booking.com portal - should get 4000+ points - stayed at hotel and after a couple of weeks no points posted so I sent the support centre an e-mail. The response said it could take up to 6 weeks (!!) to post - I mean really ?? By the time the 6+ weeks have gone by you've probably forgotten all about it and won't follow up again. I will post back here in 4 weeks and let you know if the points ever post.

(Note I did another hotel booking on the Qantas web site - this was only a few days ago - interesting to see how long these points take to post to QF).

Generally - I generally book hotesl through the hotel's own web site as you don't usually get all the benefits of your status otherwise (e.g. free breakfast, upgrade, etc) and rarely find better prices on third party web sites. The two hotels in my examples here were not part of chains where I have any status and pricing was the same as other portals/hotel's own web site.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Let us know how it goes! I've stayed away from the LM hotel promos simply in case of the difficulties in case the points don't post. But I have no factual basis for this!

So I said I would report back - stayed at a hotel booked through LM booking.com portal on June 27 portal and the points posted today July 31 so more like 5 weeks to post. Frustrating if you want the miles quickly but it does not seem to have adjusted my expiration date. Will e-mail support about this and report back yet again.

Further update - sent an e-mail re expiry date this morning (Syd time) and just checked my account and expiry date has been re-set but no response from support so maybe it's just a system lag.

Now to monitor a different hotel booking I made via the QF website - stayed 10 days ago and no points yet (but will post this in the QF forum)

So final update on this matter - received a response from 'support' this morning confirming that expiry date is updated 24 hours after posting new miles. (and ha ha they finished with a plug for the current buy miles promo - I may respond telling them I have no intention to buy more miles until they fix their website).
