Got caught with 300k plus of miles that just expired in Jan due to non activity anyone had any luck getting them back? I have tried to call mileage plus in Australia but get a phillipines call centre - no luck - any one have a local senior United contact that I could try?

As per the M+ pages on ual.com :
If my miles expire, is there a way to get them back?

No. As of December 31, 2007, miles will expire after 18 months of no activity on your account.

UA have all but shut up shop down here. Airport check-in is outsourced, call centre moved to Manila etc. I believe there is a small agent ticketing support group left, but there is no public contact as they only deal with agent ticketing issues.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Good Luck!

Yeah, searching, double searching and then checking again is probably wise before randomly posting as a Newbie in either the United or AA forum at Flyertalk :)

They have some interesting types there who will strongly comment!

An interesting link to look at is the United WIki site at Flyertalk - in particular:

Oh Mal, that's a bit harsh isn't it, but I totally agree with you.

The chances that this "poster" will get any satisfaction from UA are Buckley's and ...

:)

I have to agree with Clifford - I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for UA to reinstate your points gratis. Sorry. You can, of course, pay UA to reinstate them...

From the wiki
The first thing you should do if your United Mileage Plus miles have expired is review your past hotel, car rental, and misc. other activities to see if you completed any activity that could have/should have accrued miles but didn't. If you find you did, contact the hotel, car rental agency, restaurant, etc and ask them to retroactively credit your miles. The credit will effectively undo the expiration.
And any airlines that are UA partners and have nor been cedited to another Freq Flyer Program

Good luck (you need it !) But for 300,000 miles worth some effort
