I need to book a car/taxi transfer from Gatwick to Heathrow. Does anyone have any recommendations on what company to use? Any pitfalls on choosing a company at random from a Google search?

Most people seem to recommend taking the bus but we arrive at Gatwick at 2.30am and there’s hardly any buses departing at that time and cost wise is not cheaper for a group of 3 people. Our flight from Heathrow leaves at 10am and is all on one ticket so there’s no need to rush I suppose.

just used these guys last week for heathrow to london and london to gatwick and they were good, they shouldn't have any problem with an inter terminal transfer.

Renting a car may be an effective option at that time of night. You could even take a little detour if you like for an early breakfast somewhere around the M25 - just be back on the road before the morning traffic clogs it up.

I was about to agree with renting a car, however in the event the inbound flight to LGW is delayed do you really want the hassle of rental car pickup/dropoff/refuel etc?

Is you luggage checked through (unlikely i guess)? If not, then bear in mind you may not be able to checkin until the outbound flight opens so you'll need to factor in hanging around with luggage.

With three of you, why not pre-book a minicab into town somewhere, then have a bite / breakfast / relax etc, then re-book a pickup to take you to LHR at the right time for your onward flight? If the inbound to LGW is late, then you can always get the initially booked minicab to take you direct to LHR (and cancel the next one).
