Announced this morning the introduction of Full Service on all flights over 2:45hours from April.

This will still mean the majority of the flights will still retain the retail service?? Surely this must be going to be changed soon and one consistent product offering introduced across the network?

Definately another step in the right direction, especially for flights to DPS, DRW etc, but lets hope they turn the attention onto the triangle soon!!

re: Full Service [F&B] for Flights over 2.45 hours from APRIL

I think no "meal" service on the golden triangle is a good thing. Realistically who needs an included meal on those flights, all day everyday. Much better to keep it as a paid service.

So far this year I've booked 24 QF flight ADL/SYD @$130 on average and [-]10[/-] 16 VA flights @$98. The last purchase I made on board was a $10 Luke managan pie early last year. Easily covered by my $320 saving so far this year.

Yes, technically ADL/SYD is not golden triangle. But let's say golden triangle +

Edited to adjust for VA flights. Spreadsheet was only picking up DJ.

This will make the DPS flights more attractive (lots of grumbles on the VA FB page about no food or IFE on these flights).

I assume we'll see a 10% or so price increase on these routes to pay for the food? This will surely make the Flexi fares even less attractive than they are now?

Why 2:45 hours? That seems like an odd number?!

Didnt you post in the VA H1 results thread that got merged into the Virgin Results thread?

And this thread is about a change to service rather than the results.

No I posted here - mentioned the 2 x A330 Per-Bris from May and the full service over 2.45.

Nothing about financial results at all.

The Brisbane factor. I think this would just exclude BNE-ADL BNE-MEL and BNE-CNS on this time, with a 20min or so safety window.

Seems like another way to confuse consumers.

Bearing in mind also that would be scheduled (not day to day actual).

I think this is a positive move for VA - it keeps the costs down on the short flights (agree, you dont need a "snack" or "meal" on SYD-MEL etc) - provided you arent expecting one, you either eat before you leave or take food with you.

Does anyone know when in April the full service for flights over 2.45 hours starts?

I just asked the question via Twitter, they have responded by saying that "you can start to see meals on some selected flights from the end of the month." So not too specific but at least they didn't blow me off completely!

I had actually asked the same question on Facebook too, and just got the same reply! Thanks heaps for that :)

Will be interesting to see what you get.

Luke could be very busy

Hopefully he is not.... would be better if the food had nothing to do with him

That's a bit unfair I think....

From personal experience & the extensive VA J Class meal thread, not only has his menu on their flagship coast to coast service been consistently excellent - but his narrow body menu is now following suit.

You posted the results announcements, there was already a thread on A330s ex BNE from the day before and there has been other threads about full service being expanded from late last year. Your thread was actually titled Virgin Results today by you, which was kept.
