Can anyone advise the amount of SFT (Surcharge, fule and tax) paid when redeeming Velocity points on SQ flights? Why I have been told that cost more than purchased fare?

The following is my story:

I searched a SQ flight between SIN and HKG on Singaporeair.com, the SFT was SGD65 one way. Hence called Velocity Centre to make a redemption on the flight which is charged at 20,000 pts + SFT. However, the Velocity Centre told me the SFT for that flight is AUD80 // SGD100! I have told them the price on SQ.com was only SGD65 and there should have no difference for redemption. The staff was annoyed and told me "that's the amount (AU80) you have to paid if you wish to redeem, I do not care what is on SQ.com. Take it or not". Further, I asked for the breakdown of the AUD80 SFT which is being refused.

I think this transaction is the WORST ever in the world . Never heard of an airline redemption program would charge people extra like a profit making rule. After that, I gave up the program as I realise the points have very limited use. Unlike QF points, I can redeem on CX, JL or JQ flights between Asia cities with the correct amount of SFT cost.

Anyone has similar experiences, for the same program or others? Pls share
