I am considering employing a person who works for our company in Brazil, and want to bring him to Sydney for an interview. Can someone give me a heads up on what airlines fly from Brazil to Australia, preferably direct to Sydney? I want to get online to get an idea of cost.

Yada Yada,

LAN

Brazil to Australia via Santiago [SCL] and Auckland [AKL]. From late-June LAN will upp SCL-AKL-SYD to 6x per week with daily in November.

Aerolineas Argentinas

Brazil to Australia via Buenos Aires [BUE] and Auckland [AKL]. IINM service is redcued to 2/3x [?] per week during the winter months.

LAN would be your best choice due to their frequency SA-AU, although AR more than often offer some very good competitive fares.

Regards

None direct. Least indirect are Aerolineas Argentinas (via EZE) or LAN (via SCL).

Depending on what class of travel you are looking at it may be cheaper flying via US, and not much less than a RTW. When I was looking at quotes for the reverse direction (but from NZ) I found little difference between AR, LA, QF/LA and UA.

A site like Zuji will give more ideas, although not necessarily the best price.

Just checked my info again - AR came out much cheaper than the other options, but I had discounted them due to concerns I had with the airline.

Thanks guys. I don't know why I didn't think of Zuji!

The person is located in Sao Paulo (GRU) so it looks like a hop to SCL will be in order first.

If I let Zuji quote flexible dates, the fare can be as low as ~USD1,900 and it offers a lot of different carriers - NZ, AR, UA, SA, QF, LA and RG, but it appears there are minimum stays for some longer than I want.

However If I specify dates and make it a short stay (e.g. 4 days), the lowest fare is QF/LA's for USD2,644. It also shows some crazy fares, e.g. flying AC via YYZ for USD4,070 and flying US via ORD and SFO for USD7,275. Might as well take an RTW for that price.

I phoned LA in Australia and they quoted AUD2,494 + 30.00 fine of some sort. At least I have some options. :)
