I just cancelled a Freedom Booking and I thought that the refund could be sent to the credit card? The operator on the Plat line said negative $80 fee for CC or Free for the Travel Bank. So I went with the travel bank.

I’m not sure if online just has not been updated but is this correct? It does mention no-fee online for CC refund but the operator said no.

I believe this has been the case since the Y fares were broken into the current three groupings.

The $80 fee to refund to the original form of payment is listed in the T&C online (follow the *).

The Rat charges $99 to refund on a Flex fare...

OP are you referring to Domestic or International Long Haul? There does appear to be a difference on the Virgin site - on international, there is no mention of the $80 fee on Freedom international bookings.

Thanks. I was not aware of different rules for 777 Long Haul and Domestic. I cancelled a Long Haul Freedom last year to credit card so just assumed it would be the same as Freedom fares elsewhere

Ah well could be worse re QF $99 fee I guess.

Just a tip for others, if you use a promo code on a Freedom fare you can’t cancel online. Although I wasn’t questioned in regards to the promo code use.

I'm looking at cancelling a Freedom trans Tasman booking. The Virgin site says no fee for refunds to travel bank OR original payment method, but when I pulled the fare rules it says $130 to cancel :/

Also, it won't let me cancel online as it an SQ operated flight, so they'll probably want to charge me the contact centre fee as well.
