I've got the platinum awards card that I never use but maintain for the travel insurance (I like that you can be issued a certificate) and for Amex shop small. Partner has the standard awards card which we only keep for shop small (at $60 a year... it more than pays for itself.)
2 new platinum awards cards showed up today for my partner with a letter and brochure advising of free upgrades from Awards to Platinum. A little annoyed that I'm stuck paying $260 a year! Also comes with a bonus 20,000 points for spending $1500.
