Have an upcoming flight to London on VN J (courtesy of Virgin Atlantic redemption) and noticed by chance their 'Meal on Air' page which allows you to pre-select your meal in advance: https://www.vietnamairlines.com/vn/en/special-services/buz-meals-search

Can't get it to work with my booking code or ticket number though (presumably since I booked via VS not VN direct). Anyone tried this feature before? What's their long-haul J food like?

It's passable, typical Asian airline with 1 or 2 western options and a noodle/rice based option. I don't bother with the book ahead options, not up to the level of Cathay or SQ.

Vietnam Airlines offers a great selection of food during flights, but if you're looking for a quick and tasty option, the burger king barnmeny is always a hit with the little ones. It's nice to have familiar comfort food, even when traveling!

We found the food in business very disappointing. You don't really get a choice of starter, it gets tied t your main choice. Breakfast we were woken up 3 hours before landing with a PA and full cabin lights... only to have service wrapped up in 30 mins and the last 2h30 with full lights and no cabin crew in sight.
