Hi,

I have the choice of row 1 or the exit row on the Fokker 100 for an upcoming flight. I'm a bit confused by the multiple different seatmaps available (shown below) - can anyone suggest which seat has the best legroom? I'm really not a fan of bulkhead seats where I can't stretch my legs out, and one of the seatmaps shows Row 1 as a bulkhead, whilst others show it as an exit row...

So should I go for Row 1, Row 12, - and what's going on with Row 18 in the first seatmap?

Cheers!

I've only had a couple of flights on the Fokker, both 2B. The first few rows have extra leg room.

It is quite a while since I have been on the SkyWest/Virgin Fokker, but on the Network/Netlink Fokker, 1 DEF have a tad more legroom than on the AC side behind the bulkhead.

I think these two companies used to have their aircraft configured the same, but that may have changed.

If you don't mind sitting in the isle you could stretch your legs out a bit more than in the window side.
On these aircraft I have not noticed any extra leg room in the first few rows as Muppet says, but then I haven't sat down the back either.

The flight I am on often seem to be lightly loaded anyway so I can often sit sideways with an empty chair next to me.

They are a nice plane to fly on anyway.

There a two types of fokkers, one has the standard exits and one has an addition exit down towards the back (usually the aircraft with the built in stairs on the door like the f70). This may explain the seat map

There are only two of about 14 VA Fokker 100s that actually have the extra leg room row 18. VH-FNT and VH-FZO. I have no idea why the seat maps are based on the minority!

A few times I had travelled on the above aircraft but not realised till boarding it had the good row 18.

If I have a short flight, say PER-KGI I'll do row 1. Anything longer I'll do emergency exit row. The last several flights I have done I have checked the aircraft registration to see if I am on row 18, but haven't been on FNT or FZO since I started checking.

I believe it is a service hatch rather than an emergency exit.
Here's a photo from FZO to Kalgoorlie I was on a few months ago of row 18.

Thanks for the replies and tips. As this flight is ~2h40, I think I'll do as samas suggested and go with an exit row seat rather than row 1. Cheers!

Sorry to resurrect, haven't been on a Virgin Fokker for quite some time evey time they have been an Alliance or swapped for a 737.

Looks like the flight I'm getting has 0 availability so thought about trying out the Economy X cough and getting an exit row but is the tray table still in the armrest?

Cheers

Having recently had a few flights on the Virgin Fokker I can confirm the first few rows do have extra leg room.
Not sure about the tray table as I haven’t paid the extra for the X.
Row 3 and 4 seem to be quite roomy.

If you are near the front take a jumper.

I've flown on the Fokker's a fair bit. In my opinion all rows have good leg room. I think there was a comment once that in Australia the F100 can only have a max of 100 seats whereas it can handle a few more rows hence the good seat pitch.

I normally sit in rows 2 - 6. I don't seem to like row 1 .. probably because of the bulkhead.

Economy X on the F100 is the exit row seats in the middle of the aircraft (not row 1 which is an emergency exit row). Though again in my opinion Economy X not worth it on a F100.

Thanks guys jumped into row 3 so that will do me! :)

SeatGuru suggests that the pitch throughout the F100 is 34" (but I am assuming that exit rows would be more). This compares with Economy X on a 73H anyway so I'm not sure why the hunt would be on for even more legroom.

Just seeing if this has changed at all. Can get free Econ X (Row 12) - would people pick 1A/B or row 12?

Id pick row 2 over both of those, and on the port side- A or C

I go in row 2 as well or anything between row 2 and 6. (As previously mentioned)

Main reason is I don't link having a wall from floor to ceiling right in front.

Row 1 you will have the flight attendants there mostly depending on the aircraft (they all vary) some have lots of storage it front so you will get annoyed with the attendants opening and closing all the time.
Normal leg room is fine, you dont need the extra leg room IMHO as it is ample enough.

FYI with the middle emergency exits, your seat wont recline.

thanks for the reply - can you elaborate as to why?

More legroom- as opposed to the bulkhead in row 1, plenty of room to keep your bag under the seat in front-
Only 2 seats on that side, i prefer aisles, so only 1 person needing to get pass you, if they have to get up.
