Hi Everybody
This is only my second post but I have been lurking for quite some time.
Due to a lot of advice from posters on this forum I have been able to make some really good choices in relation to points and travel.
When Qantas tried to strong arm Amex users in transferring points I resisted and kept them with MR as I felt that I had more choice with the airlines on offer and qiute a few others on this site agreed.
Previously we used QF points to redeem QF J flights to Africa and Europe and managed to get flights but were required to book 11 months out - luckily we had a great travel agent who persevered and did all of the leg work. It also helped that I was gold at the time.
Then with semi retirement and silver I was resigned to not getting much use out of Qantas points.
For our latest trip (leaving for Europe on Monday) I managed to get 2xJ on SQ (2 legs savers) booking only 5 months out and having no status. We only joined Krisflyers to do this trip and only transferred the required amount of points from the MR account. As a bonus the total number of points was less than what was required for a QF redemption for the same flights.
I think that I am now a convert and pumping as many points into MP as possible.
