Flying SQ, VA Codeshare, Star Lounge Access

So thanks to BFOD at work and VA consistently $10 less than QF flexis it appears I am going to need to get status with VA sorted pronto before some long term projects kick off. To that end an upcoming trip to HKG is now booked via VA as a 2 stop itinerary with SQ codeshare legs from MEL-SIN-HKG.

As you can imagine, lounge access will be a definite requirement for this extended journey! I have seen mention around the place that Star lounge access policy is only based on operating metal not marketing carrier which leads me to believe I should have access to NZ/SQ lounges in MEL and SQ lounges in SIN and HKG.

Just wondering if anyone has done this whilst crediting to VA and how it all went? I imagine I will receive SQ boarding passes at MEL and I will just show my A3 Gold Card in the best case scenario.

Thanks but I am looking at access on the basis of Star Alliance Gold membership and a Star member operated flight which is unrelated to VAs lounge policy. Unlike Oneworld, Star Alliance doesn't take into account the marketing carrier for status benefits.
