Just wondering if there are any advantages or disadvantages flying QF19 and QF8 out of the international terminals when just going return to Brisbane from Sydney.

Thank you

As a Silver member, no, but as a Platinum member it would give F Lounge access on QF19 where you could drink copious amounts of Champagne ;)

That being said, the international J Lounge if you have QP access, is now serving meals around breakfast, lunch and dinner, but it might be too early for that service on QF8 and in-between services on QF19.

QF19 is the only option ex SYD to BNE, QF8 is LAX to SYD via BNE??? If you don't mind the odd delay and little to no catering they may be fun?

If travelling on these flights remember to have government issued picture identification so you can board the flight.

It is the only way to get through immigration.

QF8 ops DFW/BNE/SYD & departs BNE around 0630 arriving SYD 0800 ish.

A few things to consider is that as it departs from the international terminal the flight would close about one hour prior to departure so you would need to arrive at the airport no later than 90 minutes prior to departure which would be 0500.

LAGS screening would also apply on any QF flights even travelling domestically as they depart/arrive at international terminals.

Staff will put an orange D sticker on your boarding pass which you will need to hand in to customs on arrival at your destination so don't accidentally leave it on the plane is this will delay your processing (as a domestic passenger) on arrival.

I wouldn't bother unless I had the inclination to travel on a 747 or I was connecting to an international flight as it would save changing terminals and outwards customs would be completed at origin.

Whoops, I forgot it was now DFW! Should be right up there with QF20 requiring a very early checkin when daylight saving hits!

QF8 is scheduled to arrive in SYD at 09:25. Come daylight saving time, that changes to 10:25 ... so sleep patterns for those north of the Tweed may remain unchanged! ;)

Thats not the case, it changes to a 9.05 arrival with a check in required by 5AM, thats not worth the effort to experience what is an average J lounge and below average F lounge (small room). Airlines change times to suit the changes in the northern hemisphere, not our local preferences :D. At least its better than QF20, I have been booked on that by work in the past, loonng day!

Wonder how many people will turn up at the Brisbane domestic terminal half an hour before departure for the QF8?

One guy got it wrong on both counts recently when he turned up at the domestic terminal for QF20 which of course departs from international. He turned up mid afternoon as he thought 0455 meant 1655. Thought they taught you 24 hour clock times in the Army.

Like others have said, QF19 is the only international flight that runs SYD-BNE and only available Thursday,

QF8 runs Brisbane to Sydney 3 days a week,

Would it be worth waking up early to catch QF8 no, would it be worth it to catch QF19, maybe.

QF19 has a nice departure time of 10:55am, plenty of F lounge time, for Qantas Platinums,

Brisbane has a F lounge but really it is a very poor cousin.

Domestic flights from international terminals would be good as a novelty once in a while. As a commuter the times do not suit.

Assuming the person has served in the army. :p

I tought myself the 24 hour clock but then again I am very good at maths. ;)

If your choice is to park at the airport, it's cheaper at the BNE International than domestic.

If you don't have lounge / flounge access but do have spare time, I enjoy the ambience in these 2 international terminals - Good shop browsing especialy in SYD, watching people heading off to see the world, lots of coffee shops & places to sit & watch. Nice big pleasant open spaces. (no, I don't work for them)

The khaki duffel bag & camouflage backpack was a bit of a giveaway.

We travelled in Y on QF19 last Thursday SYD-BNE, an A330 bound for MNL.
Happy FA's, reasonable seat choice and complimentary sparkling wine available. IFE with own screen. Not quiet the case on our return today on an old 767, but other than that, still a nice flight.

I just noticed I booked +1 on QF019 SYD to BNE not next Thursday but the one after, funny because I am flying out to the US the same morning so we will be able to have Breaky at the Qantas Club.

I had not noticed until today that she had an international airport departure.

Do pardon this PERthite for getting the start month for daylight savings muddled up; I plead the following in mitigation:

If it ain't daylight savings, anybody know why the change?

It's Daylight savings in Texas being removed, so you go forward an hour when NSW kicks in then back when Texas finishes on the 6th Nov.

The 19th or the 26th?
