Hi All,

Sorry, probably wrong forum. Currently in Manila and my return flight (CX934) tonight to Melbourne via HK was premium economy, but I have just received an email saying that the class is no longer available and I will now be in economy.

I've called the Philippines contact number and they really couldn't give me any firm info, it looks like the plane has been swapped out, but that could change again. They did said that I might be offered an upgrade certificate for a future flight (whoop-de-do!) and it looks like I have lost my aisle seat (I'm plus sized, hence prem econ).

Is there anything that I can try when I check in at the airport? Press for lounge entry? Should I get there earlier to deal with this, I imagine others will be in same boat?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Steve.

Is there another flight you can take? If not early to the airport and see what they can offer.

However I'm guessing the flight is now underway and you're squeezed into a small seat.

I'd go early and push for a business seat, otherwise seek an undertaking for compensation there and then follow up in HKG during transit

I have seen this happen with SQ, when they sub an aircraft that doesn't have PE. The outcome with them is travel in Economy, with fare difference to Y class refunded and an upgrade coupon to use when next travelling that leg on which you were downgraded.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

cx initially seated people in business on non -PE sectors intra asia, id be confident in trying for that result. mnl sectors are full of opups anyway as they rotate long haul aircraft through.

how did it go?

CX's usual position on downgrades on day of departure (equipment swap) is to give cash compensation at check-in. Would be interesting to see if this happened in MNL (I know HKG and PVG have it sorted).
