Re: Flight centre vs online FINNAIR booking

I choosed the option for (pay later) on booking but to choose this the price seem more higher like maybe 1.000 dollars more then if i was to choose PAY NOW and it be less then 1.000 dollars sort of to speak.
I choosed PAY LATER option but i still had to include my card numbers on it ONLY as they want it to only reserve the room so this isn't a lie or a get away sort of to speak obviously. Also the freedom that it aloud me full cancellation refund back anytime until close to date.

I want to know if all the VAT% and so on is included in that total subtotal price or not or am i suppose to pay VAT city tax thing on top of that as well. I don't no just hope the hotel doesn't confuse me thats for sure.
But same time it seems as the VAT% and CITY TAX is included alll in the Subtotal price., But i want to be 100% sure as i have no idea.

I was quoting travelislife re the card charges and the cheaper price of BnB versus Hotel.

Where are you staying in Berlin? What is the closest U-bhan or S-bhan station?

What dates?

I be going on the date for new years eve. Not sure what is open specially 1st and 2nd of january but u cant imagine i be in the hotel stuck doing nothing as this trip cost a lot and want to see catch tour buses to and around the city thats why im there but only issue is the new years eve. Most things or everything might be close 1st and 2nd of january i think not quite sure. Not sure what tourist would do as you know been in europe berlin has lots of tourist around. But ive never been to new years eve overseas before. So not sure how safe or what to do other then enjoy it out the balcony perhaps.

Hi travelife. Just near some place not sure exactly the name of the location at the moment but it is centers of the berlin. Its near a large spanish restaurant call la barrilla i believe. just at the far back but still considered as centers

Re: Flight centre vs online FINNAIR booking

Berlin has many 'centres' so that is why I was asking where it is.

Can't really help unless you give us the name of the hotel you have booked or a local landmark. Train stations usually work best.

Note that Berlin can be very cold at that time of year (didn't get above -10 in the day when we were there first week of Jan) which can make it quite hard to walk around outside (or sit out on a balcony!).

A you talking about the Argentinian restaurant called La Parrilla? That would be near Friedrichstraße station.

Like everything in this thread nothing is clearly defined.

Well if it is that area here are some 2 bedroom options, check in 31/12/16, check out 10/01/17. Much cheaper than the booking you have got (which I assume still has free cancellation this far out). And some amazing properties as well, none anywhere near $6000.

AUD: $1600 - https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/1800164?checkin=31-12-2016&checkout=10-01-2017&guests=2&s=KVFJe8NF'

Anyway, you get the picture. $6000 seems like crazy money.

I'm not sure it seems like a proper spanish spain restaurant. Not hispanic from agentinian. But anyways plenty of restaurants around.

Well for new years eve it be my first t
time to celebrate it in germany. Not sure how safe or where to actually watch fireworks but because im getting old i be afraid to be stuck between people and then im unable to get out in order to get to the hotel. And dont think taxis would be a nice thing not when the streets will be full of people and close roads at the same time. Maybe the balcony i dont no maybe i should tell the reception how good that is if i can see fireworks from the balcony with a view. But as you know 1st of january maybe everything is close. But what does a tourist can do at that time ? and 2nd of january. Most things will still be close and not sure if those tour city circle buses will be working days later. I want to make my holidays the best memory as posible. Not stuck between the crid in which just because new years eve following day(s) are all close and there goes my money been wasted to get to berlin for nothing. Perhaps im over thinking too much about this. But i need to figuire out whats going on where and whats open avenually. Just to get up to date with my trip to berlin.

Berlin well as you know the ww2 and hitler story side of things its just one of the many things i am comming to visit because i want to see what it was like during ww2 as i was not there at the time.

I didnt knew nothing about those that you are showing me. I did had the conclusion there was other types but didn't took much great interest of it. As i am picky in prefer a window with a view and enough space in between. Those that you have show me looks more like a sharing or someones private house/apartment but for to rent it. Not sure exactly how that works but i wouldnt like to be inside in someones apartment and then realise theres another men or a woman living with me for a few nights which is something i dont like as i wouldnt no who they are. I go mainly as for proper hotels but more with apartments complex sort of to speak.

Anyhow the hotel is been reserve so no problem only one mistake is yes im going to pay too much and yes not with it but its ok ones in a while.

Thanks i had a look but it s
sounds like it is someones private property place not a proper hotel. This sounds more of a share rental apartment sort of to speak where a residencial has a spare room in his house in order for a visitor to stay there. This is not really my type of thing. Reminds me alittle bit like (hostels) or packpackers places. Those things are not my ideal to stay. But i will look into this further more for future reference. As i already have a place i found to stay which is a proper hotel. Not share with anyone or owns it. Other then the business hotel itself.

But thanks for that i will take note of that for future reference for next time i re-do another trip to berlin. As for now i have the hotel in which i be staying otherwise. I know i be spending too much its beyond ridiculously but what can you do about it. At least they are not going to charge my card just yet. But i still dont like the price. The price is high because it is a 5 star or at least it is hotel That's one of the reasons. It is not a full luxury looking apartment but it is a 4/half to 5 star place.

Thank you. Great places but i
notice the pictures there are things from someones property. Almost like saying does someone live in there because i notice the stuff you dont usually find like that in a proper hotel.
Is it a sharing apartment sort of to speak ?

These are all private apartments. A lot of people run it as a business, you will see the same owners leasing out a number of places. So some are run more like 'hotels' and others are peoples apartments.

No - you would not be sharing with anyone, you would have exclusive use of the whole apartment. So you don't have to worry about sharing another room. AirBnB does have this option but it is not something I have used previously nor something that you would use.

Often the owners are better than any concierge you will find in any hotel for recommending things to do around town as well.

What's the name of your hotel?

I would save your energy. Barbra wants the impossible. She has repeatedly said she's very picky and wants huge numbers of amenities in her hotel room and wants to stay in Berlin on NYE yet doesn't want to pay too much money. As the saying goes, champagne tastes on a beer budget.

It's the opposite though! She is spending the champagne budget!

Re: Flight centre vs online FINNAIR booking

Don't think Barbra wants to share the name of the hotel with us. I certainly would remember the name of a place where I was to spend that much money

Thank you to you again, Starting to see that there is good people here like you regular members who will help as much as they can. So i appreciated it your time and to those.

Well thats good i think your pretty much about right as hotels seems more commercialism sort of to speak. Ive seen similar things like this for the goldcoast but never came to mind much about it. As it seems like rentals when im more of a tourist visitor to the city.

So all that all to yourself the house ? so not shared by any a family with kids and so on. One would think where are the families in this house or its more design as a hotel sort of to speak which does look more as if someone has been living in there.

Nevermind my hotel has been reserve but yes very expensive and wont go back to reality check when it comes to re-spent almost 6.000 dollars for just 2 bedrooms. Just expensive. I can't actually specified tell you the name of the hotel but i can tell you they are nice place but far too comercialism.

Since i have the hotel reserve then next step is getting to the hotel from the berlin airport. First of all i dont feel like wanting to catch a taxi ride to the hotel as my preview ride they didnt had the metter on he kept it quiet and he made up a price like 58 euros. Which in this case the hotel is just less then 30minutes from the airport. While few years ago same thing and i got on a taxi ride and it was on meeter and it only costed me 39.00 euros. So because of my recent review on how expensive the taxi was it was a foul play he knew i was a tourist so they make up a big price.

So in regards to that. I am not going back to it again and realise the driver will charge me something high without me even knowing. I told him how much ? he goes quiet for a few seconds and then he said he has a fix price. But didn't proof it to me which he just made it up. So bit of a scambag it was.

I am now re-considering catching a private limo car to the hotel. Not exactly a limosine strech car.. But more of a private normal good comfortable car that can take us by the driver holding a sign waiting for us to be picked up from the terminal airport at berlin.

Not sure exactly which companies offers private pickups as in private limo sort of to speak

But the only thing i must be aware are.. Can a normal car with 4 doors be able to put 4 luggage inside the boot ? Each of us me will be carrying 1 large suitcase and 1 medium sizes suitcase and a normal carry on bag. He will also have 1 large suitcase and 1 medium sizes suit case and his carry on camera bag. Would a car be able to collect this or would i need a van ? because too much ? And i dont no what companies there would be really.. I might just have to have a browse around and find one but only one that offers (good reviews) and not one that isn't worth going with.

So this is what i might wish to do rather then a taxi because of my last experience the driver charge me a woopy 58.00euros and that is over priced. Because it should only be at least 38.00euros lets say from Brandenburg gate to the berlin airport which is aproximate 25minutes just about.
He saw me as a tourist so he ends up charging me without telling me the price until i told him half way.

Not going back to that again god knows what would had happen if i was to be charge more then that and im far too old to get all this done. One would see me more as miss Fletcher if you people are curiosity what i look like. That good old drama script series of Miss Fletcher (murder she wrote) Well yes just a bit of humor for you people i look bit like her in that style. So anyhow about the private cars. That's what i will be doing.

Not hiring cars or rentals as we dont drive at all.
