HI All -
this is my first post so please forgive me if I'm posting incorrectly. We have booked and confirmed flights to New York returning via Santiago and
Buenos Aires to Brisbane using Qantas Frequent Flyer points. All flights have been confirmed. We saved points for 8 years and are flying business class. I found out today that LAN Airlines has cancelled the Santiago to Buenos Aires leg of our trip. Can this just happen. Santiago was only a stop over flight on our way to Buenos Aires. Has this happended to anyone else. We aren't flying until October.

Welcome to AFF, as you have found out the airline can and has cancelled the flight.

Given it is not for a few months why not call Qantas and ask them for assistance to rebook. It will be much easier if you can offer and alternative flight you would like.

Good luck and please let us know how you go.

Thanks for your responses. I'm just confused because I was told on the Qantas FF site that the flight was cancelled but when I tried to book it today the same flight is still flying. It's LA405 on the 3rd of Oct. Can they just bump you because you're on FF points. I was on hold with Qantas for an hour. Is there an email address for Qantas FF? Thanks for helping me. I really appreciate it. I have an E-Ticket Itinerary and Receipt with this flight on it.

I got onto Qantas FF and LAN made the mistake of putting us on a flight number that was the same as the previous flight. That broke the FF rules so they cancelled us on it. Qantas fixed it all up. We were in J class and now we're in Economy but that's OK. Thanks for your interest.

If you paid (points) for business would keep pressing QF to book you in business (If sold on that route).
