FJ From Oz to Asia: $588 return

Why fly direct to Asia when you can pop past Fiji for some R & R en route?

Just received an email from FJ, not sure if it's directed at specific signups or for the general eager population. But there are flights from SYD to HKG via NAN, for example, from $599 return. I'd consider this an awesome sale fare, since even this would make for a good price for a direct flight with most other folk.

Other fares less than $600 all originating from BNE, SYD, MEL or ADL.

Also to HNL via NAN for $699 return, or onwards to SFO for $799. Thought I'd share it here if anyone is thinking of taking off in that general direction.

Ongoing or limited dates? I looked at FJ late last year for MEL-HNL and ended up on QF - the FJ flights were more expensive with terrible connections in both directions.

it's all over the Fiji air home page. www.fijiairways.com or phone 1800 230 151 or better still phone a real live travel agent. They won't make anything out of it, but might give them something to do & they might make a few dollars out of hotel etc.

Some agents might try & upsell you to a higher fare, so they can make some $$$.

Spoke to a few agents this week & all said very quiet bookings wise. Enquiries yes, bookings no.

Saw the $799 to west coast discounted to $750.

The $588 to Hong Kong return, surely can't be discounted, as after taking out govt taxes, the actual fare the airliens get must be $300 & agents would be lucky to get $10

great, but where did you get that from ?

Spoke to airline. If a travel agent books it, you can get 72 hours maximum to pay for it. Realistically, agent must be open & obviously can't do it, in a few seconds.

So can make a booking & then others can decide, if they are going or not. Otherwise, a price without a booking is meaningless, as they could easily sell out, while others stuff around, especially if only 10 seats per flight.
